Welcome to Tulchan Farm Lodges

Privately owned purpose built wooden lodges, built to provide a service to enable individuals with a learning disability, associated needs to have short breaks/respite care in the countryside.

The lodges are surrounded by native woodlands, deer, game birds and other wildlife can be spotted. On the farm you will find sheep, hens, highland cows etc.

We are a care home which will be registered with the care commission to provide care for adults with learning disabilities/associated needs.

Tulchan Farm Lodges

Two brand new, purpose built three bedroomed lodges set in a safe, secure, peaceful, rural setting in Glenalmond, Perthshire, with stunning views overlooking the Sma Glen and Buchanty Hill.

Each lodge is finished to high standards, cathedral ceilings, en-suite wet rooms; one lodge has a Jacuzzi bath and en-suite wet room. Each lodge has it’s own private decking area and ample parking space.

Aims and objectives and philosophy of care

Our Aim is to provide high quality care/support for individuals. To provide a safe, homely environment where the individuals physical, emotional, psychological and social needs are met, to as high a standard as possible. Our objective is to achieve user satisfaction through the provision of a quality service that meets agreed user needs within the limits of service availability and we are committed to the principles of equal opportunity. We aim to support the rights and promote the privacy and dignity of service users, therefore each individual can expect opportunities to make choices, enjoy personal space/time and be treated with respect.

We recognise each person as an individual, having the right to express his/her opinions, views and beliefs, individuals have the right to make choices and be informed of their options. We offer, at all times, sesitive and conscientious support from competent, committed, trained staff.

Type of Break

Away from home, dedicated short break/respite accommodation/emergency respite care. Share the care, enjoy the break. From one day to a maximum of 14 days at any given time. Special arrangements can possibly be made for service users who may require longer breaks/up to 28 days.

Service

We will provide 24 hour care/personal care and staffing ratios will be taken into account to ensure plenty of individual person-centred care and attention.

All care will be planned in accordance with individual assessed needs. Person centred care plans will be written and reviewed on a regular basis in consultation with individual. Family/carers wishes are sensitively considered in the planning of the individuals care during the preparation for the individuals stay.

To maintain dignity, confidentiality, privacy and social inclusion for all service users within the lodges and endeavour to encourage choice and self determination at all times. Commitment to provide high quality service to service users, their carers and families.

The lodges can accommodate six people, however individuals may wish to come on their own/with a partner or may wish to share with others, and this will be discussed with individuals/representatives. Family members/carers may come and enjoy the break, share the care with suitably qualified staff.

We have excellent links with the local GP surgeries, pharmacy and district nurses, learning disability nurses and other professional bodies.

Special diets are catered for; each individual will be involved in the menu for the duration of their stay. Food is prepared and cooked in the lodges. Clients have full support to prepare/cook their own meals if required.

All personal laundry is taken care of on a daily basis; there is a separate laundry on site.

Activities

Activities are a key part of life at the lodges. Activities will be offered both inside and outdoors tailored to meet the individual’s needs and interests, to develop existing skills and can enhance life experience.

All activities are risk-assessed and supervised by staff.

Activities include: walking, bird watching and fishing on the River Almond, outings, swimming, cinema, music, gardening, music, gardening, games, ten pin bowling and feeding animals. Other activities can be provided depending on individual requests.

Costs

The costs provided below are for 24 hour care/sleeping nights, for adults with learning disabilities/associated needs and who may have challenging behaviors’. Waking night staff not included in this costing.

Nursing care is not provided.

Low dependency: £775.00
Medium dependency: £1275.00
High dependency: £1600.00

These costs are a guide only and may be changed following individual assessment.

The lodges can be rented out at £500.00 per week, care staff can be provided if required or service users can bring their own care.

Care staff can be provided at an average of £12/£20 per hour.

Travel: Transport may be provided from Glenalmond to pickup point at rate of 50 pence per mile plus staff time. This cannot be guaranteed.
